Finally We Seem to have help

I am usually IRL (in real life) very private about the fact that we are having trouble getting pregnant. But I feel like this is like a sisterhood of best friends. Where I can tell you guys everything on my heart and get support and encouragement. Where I can get so many comments that are like "yeah I have totally been there!" and that seems to make it okay for me to share with you guys.

I am not sure who IRL that I will share this with. So far only my sister (and not my mom) and my hubby know. I went to the lady doctor (it makes me feel better to call him that instead of OBGYN) yesterday. I have been having alot of pain in my left side and haven't had a period since Febuary. He talked with my hubby and I for a while and I told him of my fear that I have
PCOS. He looked at my ovaries and confirmed it. I have an official diagnosis now. It's PCOS. (I have linked it to WebMD if you want to read about it.)

PCOS in a nutshell:
PCOS occurs when the ovaries don’t make enough hormones for the eggs to fully mature. Instead of releasing a mature egg during ovulation, some of the follicles in the ovaries turn into fluid-filled sacs called cysts. More than six out of every 10 women who have PCOS are also overweight

It basically means that I am not ovulating and I have many cysts in my ovaries. He gave me a round of fertility drugs to encourage me to ovulate. Then I come in for blood work to see if I did but if I didn't we go to stronger drugs.

The biggest worry with multiples. I already have a history of twins in my family. So I will pray very hard that God will help us get pregnant and will not put more on us than we can handle. Amen. :)

My best friend has PCOS. Her name is Meredith and I'm sending her a link to your blog right now. She, like you, needs support from someone who's going through the same thing. Also, I don't know if you've ever read mooshinindy.com, but she's been very public and wonderful lately about her own battle with infertility and PCOS. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this problem, but know that there is definitely help and there are LOTS of people who can support you as you go through this!
Big hugs to you!!!

I am glad you talked to you Dr. and he has started you on a plan. I am also glad you have all of us to share with! I wish you luck with the fertility drugs and will be thinking of you this week!

I'm happy you're getting help. It's such a hard journey to try and have a baby. It seems like its always a shot in the dark (no pun intended). I'll be keeping you in my prayers and hopefully, God will surprise us all and give you your bundle of joy on this first round of treatments.

I'm the aforementioned Meredith in comment #1. I was diagnosed with PCOS earlier this year. I've done Clomid for 4 months and it finally got me going this month! We are on our way to Birmingham to meet with a reproductive endocrinologist. I'm here if you have any questions or need someone to talk to!
