Have you guys heard about Angel Food?

When we were poking around trying to find coupons and such for groceries we came upon Angel Food Ministries.

Here is their mission statement:

Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated
to providing food relief and contributing to benevolent outreaches in
communities throughout the United States.

We did this for the first time this month. Our food arrived today and I am waiting to go pick it up when I get off from work. I will be sure and let you guys know more about the food after I pick it up.

This is how it works, once a month you place your order. There is a menu with 3 main boxes and 5 boxes that you can chose to go with it. New for March they have an ALLERGEN-FREE BOX. The main box is $30 and the accompaning boxes range in price. You have to order one of the main boxes in order to order the smaller boxes. The main box that we get for $30 is supposed to feed a family of four for one week. So we got two (and there is no limit) in hopes that it will last us for a month when the March boxes come out. They include things like: chicken, pork shops, strip steaks, eggs, self milk, cereal, bacon, rice and a dessert. You order and pick up from participating churches that are located litteraly EVERYWHERE.

It is not based on income. It is not a welfare thing (although they do accept Food Stamps). They just want to provide "affordable, quality food" and I am proud of it!!!

Go check it out!! I do not think you will be sorry you did!!!!

When I was in high school our church was an angel food location. One Saturday a month we'd meet up to pack the boxes. Yummy stuff and good prices!! :-) I'm so glad you brought this up. I'm gonna see if there isn't an angel food location in my area now!! Thanks!!!

I heart them. My parents foud out about it maybe 2 months ago now and we've been doing for 2 months now. We just picked up our stuff Saturday for this month. My dad has been kind enough to purchase a box for me and my brother (we don't live at home anymore) it really helps us out and then we can add other boxes on their order if we want. I finally have meat in my freezer again. I'm living the high life.

I know someone who started doing this after her husband died in a car accident. Shes a SAHM and has four kids. This has been a wonderful thing for her and her family.
